Top 3 Korean Dramas in 2009
71No. 3: Shining Inheritance
Every year, many Korean dramas are produced. For the year 2009, three dramas captured my attention. At third place is "Shining Inheritance" (also known as Brilliant Legacy) starring Lee Seung Gi and Han Hyo Joo. The drama revolves around Han Hyo Joo's character who is put in a situation like Cinderella's. She is forced to fend for herself and her brother. In the process, she inevitably ends up living in the same house as the main male character thanks to his grandmother.
To cut the long story short, both characters grow to love another and teach each other important lessons in life. For Lee Seung Gi's character, it is definitely a huge leap in terms of maturity as he learns to appreciate money and to respect others.
Shining Inheritance was also shown in Japan. Among the various Korean dramas shown before, this drama is the one which attained the highest rating for that time slot. This has also earned the two main lead actors, Lee Seung Gi and Han Hyo Joo many Japanese fans.
Han Hyo Joo is currently starring in a new Korean drama titled "Dong Yi".

No. 2: Boys Over Flowers
This drama is based on a manga called Hana Yori Dango. There has been many adaptations to TV including the famous Taiwanese series Meteor Garden starring Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Vanness Wu and Ken Zhu. However, this adaptation still manages to capture the hearts of viewers.
With great casting, all the actors play and look their parts well. Moreover, the drama is also accompanied by great songs throughout the show such as Paradise by T-Max (Kim Jun is a member) and Because I'm Stupid by SS501 (second male lead Kim Hyun Joong is the leader).
During the filming, there were various unfortunate incidents including Goo Hye Sun's accident. This resulted in a special being shown to replace a planned episode. Catch the special to see the 4 male leads!

No. 1: You're Beautiful
This drama has far exceeded the expectations of many. What makes this drama stand out among all the rest is the fact that even after the show was completed, fans still do not have enough. This has led to the setting up of a new website for the band A.N.Jell. In fact, when the website was first up, too many visits to the site actually caused the server to break down!
From the excellent acting by Jang Geun Suk to the catchy songs with touching lyrics, almost everything in this Korean series is perfect. Although the premise of a girl pretending to be a guy is nothing new, the scriptwriters have managed to inject lots of humour and heartwarming scenes into this short drama series.
Fans of the show will definitely recognize the significance of things like "stars" and the "pig-rabbit". Also, not to forget the extremely hilarious "running away from the pig" scene. It is all these small little things that have captured the attention of fans all around the world, particularly in the Asian region. And the series has definitely won me over!

Hi! these dramas are great, thank you for sharing :)
I also noticed the older-women, younger-men trend. could be catering to the interests of the large number of older women (stay-home moms and housewives) watching the dramas who have the money to attract advertisers.
