Christmas: When Family and Friends Gather

Christmas has always been the best time for me to meet up with my family and friends. Although I live in a country with no snow, this festive season is still my favorite time of the year. No snowman or burning logs are needed to make Christmas more magical. The best which Christmas offers is the opportunity to see people whom I have missed. When I start to hear Christmas carols playing on the radio, that's how I know is is approaching. And that's also when I start to rehearse playing them on the piano.

For Christians, like me, this holiday season is even more special and memorable. On 25th December each year, Christians all around the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, our savior. It is during these times that most churches around the world organize fun events such as dramas which tells of Jesus' birth in Bethlehem.

Christmas is also the time for forgiveness. Let bygones be bygones. Do not let past hurts remain. Instead choose to let go and move forward in life!

For the children, Christmas also represents a time of receiving presents. As a kid, I used to believe in Santa. What I didn't know was that, my parents WAS Santa! 

Now that I'm older, I have realized that Christmas is not just a time to receive. It is also the best time to give. Although over the years, giving of presents has made everything become more commercialized, I still believe that gift-giving should be continued. The best gifts need not be expensive. All you need give with the aim of making the other person happy.

As Christmas is at the end of the year, it is also the best time for me to reflect on what I have or have not done throughout the year. It is the time when I consider whether to continue going in the direction of my current path or switch to another.

Just about a week after Christmas, New Year arrives. During New Year, many people make resolutions too. It is the same for me too. By making a resolution, it helps me to focus on achieving the best I can and on the things which are most important to me. My resolutions vary depending on the stage I am at in life. In the past, I have made resolutions related to relationships, education and career.

Although Christmas means many things to different people, for me, Christmas will always be my favorite time of the year for the many reasons stated above.
